Enjoy Your Chimney For Years To Come With HeatShield® Chimney Liner Restoration

The flue liner is an important component of your chimney system that plays a pivotal role in keeping your chimney safe and efficient. It keeps surrounding walls built from combustible materials protected from the intense heat generated by your fireplace. A damaged flue liner can impact how your fireplace performs and is a serious fire hazard.

If a damaged and deteriorated clay flue liner has hindered fireside enjoyment in your home, let Black Velvet Chimney help. We’ll inspect your chimney liner using our video scanning technology, identify where the damage is, and repair and reline using HeatShield®.

HeatShield® for Joint Repairs & Damage to Single Areas

HeatShield® is a cerfractory sealant system that can be applied using a foam applicator. First, we create an applicator that perfectly fits your flue, prep the flue for the sealant, apply the sealant to the cracks and areas of concern, and use the applicator to push the sealant into the cracks and smooth the sealant over the area.

When we’re finished, we’ll once again snake the camera system into the chimney flue to make sure every crack is filled and every damaged area is restored.

HeatShield® for Resurfacing

What if your flue liner is damaged from top to bottom? That’s no problem. Just as we do with minor repairs, we start by creating a custom applicator to fit your flue and prep the flue for the sealant. Next, we pour the HeatShield® sealant down into the flue, pulling the applicator up to smooth the product over the length of the flue and fill any holes or cracks. Once again, we’ll use our camera system to evaluate our repairs.

HeatShield® for Relining or Lining Unlined Chimneys

If you need extra reinforcement for your flue, we can also recommend the CeCure® sleeve relining system from HeatShield®. We start with the same process used in the resurfacing system mentioned above, but then slip a ceramic and stainless steel sleeve down into the flue and add yet another coating of HeatShield®. The result: a stronger, more protected chimney. This is also the process used when a chimney is unlined and the homeowner would like to line with HeatShield®.

What Makes HeatShield® the Best Choice?

HeatShield® restorative options don’t require demolition or the expense, time, and labor of tearing out old clay tile liners and replacing them with new ones. HeatShield® is also appealing for the following reasons:

  • It’s able to take temperatures upwards of 2,900 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • It’s approved for use with all fuel types.
  • It’s UL-listed and has undergone rigorous testing for safety and durability.
  • It’s an eco-friendly system.
  • It carries a 20-year limited warranty.

Do Chimney Technicians Need Specialized Training to Apply HeatShield® Repair Methods?

HeatShield® can only be installed by chimney professionals who have completed the HeatShield® Installer factory training course offered by SaverSystems. To qualify for the course, technicians must currently work in the industry, be certified by one or more nationally recognized education and certification organizations such as the Chimney Safety Institute of America (CSIA), hold membership in the National Chimney Sweep Guild (NCSG) and/or the Hearth, Patio & Barbecue Association (HPBA), and work for a company that offers Level II chimney inspections per National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 211.

How Long Does It Take to Install HeatShield®?

The installation time for HeatShield® will vary depending on the type of liner, the size of the chimney, and the extent of the damage. It will not take us as long to address isolated damage as it will to repair damage throughout the liner. Including prep work and curing time. installation can take just a few hours or require a full day in general.
