As every chimney owner knows, it’s extremely important to have your chimney inspected and cleaned annually. There are many things to look for, such as creosote build-up, rusty dampers, cracked chimney crown, damaged flashings, or crumbling mortar. When you have your chimney inspected by the professionals at Black Velvet Chimney, you know we will look for these things and more.Get a Video Inspection - Arlington TX - Black Velvet Chimney

Level One Inspection

Even if you have had your chimney inspected annually, you may not realize that there are different levels of inspection. Each one holds a specific purpose, and we will recommend which level of inspection your chimney may need. We will recommend a Level 1 inspection if you have had your chimney inspected regularly and make necessary repairs. At a Level 1, we will just inspect what is “readily accessible” in the interior, exterior, and in the fireplace assembly. We’ll check out your chimney structure and your flue as well.

Level Two With Video Inspection

If you have made changes to your fireplace or chimney system, or are selling your home, a Level 2 inspection is necessary. Changes would include moving from a wood-burning to gas or changes to your chimney. Damages that may require a Level 2 inspection could be from weather, a chimney fire or a building fire. A Level 2 inspection includes a video inspection so we can see inside the chimney flue.

Level Three Inspection

If a Level 1 or Level 2 inspection indicates structural damage to your chimney, we’ll recommend a Level 3 inspection. This type of inspection will require special tools to look deeper into the interior of the chimney, and may require rebuilding.
