When it comes to chimney systems, there are some basic components that most chimneys have…
- Chimney Flue Liner: This is the vertical channel that helps gas, fumes, and other combustion byproducts safely exit the chimney and stay out of your home. Liners add an additional layer of protection for your home against the high temperatures that result from using your fireplace, wood stove, or furnace.
- Chimney Cap: Chimney caps are what you typically see at the very top of your chimney. They are usually made of copper or stainless steel and can be custom designed to meet your needs. They act as barriers to keep unwanted water, outside debris, and pests out of your chimney and home. They also serve as a spark guard that protects your roof from hot embers.
- Chimney Crown: Crowns are the cement slab at the top of your chimney. They should have a downward slope that helps to deter water from entering your chimney system.
